Some places I have stopped at on the long and winding road that have cast a spell over me, many of which I had read about as a child whose interested in people and places was very much influenced by the wonderful photographs that the National Geographic magazine has provided us with over the years:

The magical colour of Kyoto in November.
- The Alhambra
- Angkor
- Basilique de Notre Dame de Montreal
- Carcassonne
- Český Krumlov
- Stonehenge
- Taj Mahal
- Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness
- Kathmandu
- O Cebriero
- Santiago de Compostela
- Parador Hostal Dos Reis Católicos
- The 1000 year old Temple of Literature in Hanoi
- Kyoto in Autumn

Courtyard of the Lions, The Alhambra.

You may be interested to know that Prof Yvonne Salmon, the occupant of Salmon’s Maternity Home [featured in your blog 29.03.2010], whose great, great grandfather, John Kinsey Salmon was one of the three officers of the East India Company directed personally by Sir Stamford Raffles to come from Bencoolen to Singapore to assist in the administration of Singapore – is at 84, living beyond the yellow door [photographed in your blog] in an interior left exactly as it was in the 50s. She phoned me this morning and I will be sending a printout of your article to her. May I attribute source to you, Mr Jerome Lim? Thank You
