Where once there were trees …

Where trees once spoke to me, and birds rejoiced in the colours of the new day, there will now be no tomorrows, for the songs of yesterday …

Well, that’s the price for progress. 😦

Sadly yes, it is a price we pay. The area was once a marshland that supported a rich population of birds, and a breeding site for herons.

Haha César, there might actually have been prawn farms not far away. For us in Singapore of a certain vintage, the name takes us back to our sweaty field training days feeding mosquitoes in the woods off Lorong Gambas. By the way I may be headed up your way soon …

ARRRRGH yes urban redevelopment is tearing up Woodlands! I miss the trees and natural streams and wild dogs. It’s even named woodlands, its supposed to be the ULU place in Singapore but it’s now so urbanized its become like Tampines (also ironically named).
