A Visual Adventure

Singapore, with its large immigrant population, is blessed with a diversity of cultures and religions. Officially, ten different religions are recognised in the city-state. While three main ethnic groups seem to dominate the scene, there are also smaller ethnic communities who contribute to its cultural flavour. All of this makes Singapore a melting pot of all that has been borrowed from the many places to which its communities trace their roots. How this manifests itself is in the wide range of culinary offerings, and in the colourful festivals and cultural activities that seem come one after another throughout the year. What we often see in them are old and sometimes ancient practices. Borrowed from their places of origin and inevitably mixed with local interpretations and adaptions, they add much colour to Singapore, making it an especially photographable place.
